Deepika at the Film Fare Awards 2012 - I've seen this variously being descibed as a saree...This has got to be a thavani, or as they say in north india - a lehenga. It sure is hot whatever it may be - pure Sabsayachi style (but I'll vouch it's a half saree from this photo - and hence gaining a place on this blog about halfsarees).

Nothing fascinating about these half sarees. But I uploaded them to indicate the effect of bringing the fall foward and tuckign it in at ur hips. Advantage, you can actually do more things, without it getting in the way.
My comment re the pavadai, is that if your going to go fake, so with it in pride, and don't tell us its not ur pure silk. This pavadai just has all the tell tale signs that it isn't real.

Disco beads

No, this isn't another Sreya post.
I just wanted to point out the use of (What do I call it?) the sparkly disco circled borders.
If you'd asked me before I saw these images, I would definetely have said no. Especially silver circles with gold is a big no, no!
However, I now have second thoughts.
Its interesting to note that both the above thavani sets, use the circles in a balanced amount. Either just for the pavadai and blouse, or just for the Thavani. This creates a trendy look balanced against the heritage pavadai, or vice versa. So in these cases, I really think it works, and makes the overall look great.
Especially, the thavani set on the left, since the thavani is pretty much the same colour as the pavadai, to show the difference in shade, this bold border choice is great.
Similarly, the White pavadai set, needed something to look great from afar, as the photo is from a dance sequence, so the choice of the bold border in the pavaadai was great.

Beautiful Half Saree/ Beautiful Photo

Incredible Photo or should I say Incredible Half Saree.
Why?
Is it the contrasting blue blouse, yellowish thavani or the patterned red pavadai? (hehe did u notice how the pavadai takes after the chair? and merges with the backround, Excellent Photography!)
Is it the unique border on the thavani, or the bright golden prints?
Or is it the beautiful smile of the girl or the colours in her hand that smell mischief?
What ever it is , I'm loving the effect and I'm sure you are too.

Being different with the Thavani

This is what you call being real different and unique with your thavanai. Very stylish, and outside the box of usual thavani's. Loving the triangurlar cut, the green border, and the printed thavani, perfectl matched with a plain pavadai.

Same colour Thavani
Wearing the same colour thavani as the pavadai seems to be a trend. To a certain effect it MAY look good. In the above photo, I don't know which part of 'same colour' the stylist did not understand. The thavani is like three shades off the paavadai. IF you cant find the same colour, please don't try to pass it off with a similar shade, because clearly it looks 'orrible.
Below is a photograph, where the same colour has worked well. It is also probably due to the heavily worked paavadai balanced off by the matching same coloured thavani.
